City of Glass by Cassandra Clare: Book Review

City of Glass
Cassandra Clare
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
Publishing Date: March 24, 2009

Synopsis:
To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters - never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.

As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadowhunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City - whatever the cost?

Love is a mortal sin and the secrets of the past prove deadly as Clary and Jace face down Valentine in the third installment of the New York Times bestselling series The Mortal Instruments.

The plot was supposed to go fast in the beginning, but for me i didn't connect that fast with the story, but when i did i really enjoyed it. This book is really action packed and has a lot of action moments in it as well as heart breaking ones. Sometimes during the action moments it did went to another subplot that i was not that interested in at that moment and i just wanted those scenes that were in the middle of the action to end already so i can go back to the action. But i really did not expect the ending and it finished really great, even though in my opinion the epilogue was a bit too long.
What i did really like is that there was a kind of mystery behind some characters, that i really loved. I always like the mystery

The writing style of Cassandra is always great and i love it because you can see what is happening everywhere with everyone. But like i said above, some people weren't that important in my opinion.

This time around i couldn't connect with Clary that much, i didn't really like her in this book. Who i really did enjoy was Izzy (Isabelle Light wood) and Simon being bad ass as always.

I can't say much about the relationships without spoiling can I? Instead i will mention my ships:
Isabelle and Simon
Alec and Magnus

I would recommend you to keep on with the series and get to this book because so much will make sense then and you will finally be able to rest in peace.

I gave this book ★★★★★ on Goodreads
